Rumors is Mr. Simon’s only true farce, complete with ridiculous, witty wordplay and slamming doors. The play is set at the home of Charlie and Myra Brock at a dinner party to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. When the party first guests arrive, they find Charlie passed out upstairs with a bullet hole in his ear lobe, and Myra is nowhere to be seen. Hilarity ensues as the friends try frantically to protect their host (who is deputy mayor of New York), and themselves, by hiding the evening’s events from each arriving guest and from the outside world. The brilliant dialogue and fast-paced action of this charming comedy will have you roaring with laughter. It is truly a light-hearted treat that you do not want to miss!
